About the Glacier Hot Pools

Located right in Franz Josef town are the amazing Glacier Hot Pools. The perfect place to relax after a day of walking or heli hiking in the Franz Josef area. Entry to the hot pools is in the same building as the Franz Josef visitor information centre (iSite) and DOC at 63 Cron St.

If you’ve just completed the free glacier walk or the 3 hour guided valley walk to Franz Josef Glacier, there is nothing better than a soak in either the main pools or why not go for a private pool.

The pools are open all year round from 11am to 9pm with the last entry at 8pm. The pools are in perfect synergy with the environment, ranging in temperature from 38 to 40° Celsius and covered by giant sails offering protection from the sun and rain. Build within dense native rain forest along side thirty metre Kamahi trees, you really are in the bush. There is a wide boardwalk path that weaves it’s way through the area. Birds, flora and fauna surround you and the distinct call of the Korero wood pigeon is never far away. As day turns to night, an evening under the stars, sheltered by natures leafy canopy at the Franz Josef Glacier Hot Pools, is a truly amazing, reviving and unforgettable experience. Private Pools

There are 3 Private Pools surrounded by native rainforest and offer total seclusion, naturally. A Private Pool experience includes private changing facilities with towels and complimentary entry into the Main Pools. The water in the Private Pools is re-filtered after every use. Private Pools are 45 minutes in duration. Private Pool bookings are for a minimum of two people and a maximum of four people. For online bookings please bring your credit card when checking in.
