The Lake Pukaki Foreshore Walk is an easy day walk around the southern end of Lake Pukaki.
This walk is a great way to truly enjoy the sights of the lake and the Southern Alps. The track winds its way around the lake towards the Tekapo B Power Station.
Though pine trees can be seen along some parts of this track, the walk does not really provide any shade and can be very hot during summer days. The walk around the lake provides much of the same view after some point, so many people will not complete the entirety of the walk until the power station. Once you’ve had your fill, simply turn around and make your way back along the same route.
This walk makes up part of the Te Araroa track as well as the Alps 2 Ocean trail. This means you most likely will run into bikers or trampers as you meander around the lake.
The most stunning view along this way is right at the start where the car park is. You can see straight down the lake to Aoraki Mount Cook nestled between the surrounding mountains.
