This part of the Otago Central Rail Trail from Clyde to Alexandra is 8k long and will take you around 1 hour to bike there non stop. The track is nice and wide with good gravel. You can also walk the Otago Central Trail as well. Of course it will take you a lot longer to go from Clyde to Alexandra!
In the map above, if you zoom in on the walk, you’ll see all the following track points and their location. Each point has photos along with a description about each one.
You have to cross the Clyde Alexandra Road to get to the start of the Otago Central Rail Trail. It is only 8 km into Alexandra. If you feel like a good bike ride, Middlemarch is only 150km down the Trail. At the start are clean toilets and a place to sit and sort out your gear.
It was a good ride. I though it was a slight down hill ride for the last twenty minutes. There is a toilet 15 minutes into the ride, just after Muttontown Viaduct. The trail runs along side the main road so help is not far away. Now I will have to leave the great Otago Central Rail Trail and head back to the camp ground.
