Opunake Loop Trail has been a project of the Opunake Lions Club to create a mountain biking/walking track around the seaside town of Opunake. The basic loop of 8.3km was completed in January 2020 and the community has plans for further improvements to enhance the trail. Enjoy a wide range of views including Opunake Lake, Opunake beach and Middletons Bay as well as the Waiaua River and Otahi Steam. Dogs very welcome and Middleton Bay is a off leash area where they can enjoy the sand and waves.
