The Mt Eden walk is an easy 2k walk that will take you around 1 hour to complete.

Just 5 km from down town Auckland it’s the highest volcano in Auckland on Mt Eden. The last eruption was about 15,000 years ago, leaving a crater 50Mt deep. Walk to the top of Mt Eden Volcano, there you’ll get a 360° view of Auckland so long as the rain stays away. If you can’t be bothered walking up to the summit, then take a massively discounted private 2 hour city tour on an electric Tuk Tuk, which includes Mt Eden.

If you enjoyed the view from Mt Eden, then you’ll totally love the amazing views from the top of the Sky Tower (tickets normally $32, now only $25). If you’re the adventurous type then try (a discounted) AJ Hacket Bungy SkyWalk, that’ll knock your socks off! For the totally mad do the AJ Hackett Bungy from the Sky Tower!

Stunning views from the summit of Mt Eden on this excellent short walk in Auckland

This walk up Mt Eden takes you along the road and smaller tracks to the summit and crater, check out the immense size of this volcano. It is possible to walk down into the crater, its just grass. Take a rest on one of the bench seats and look out across to Rangitoto Island. You’ll see the Auckland Harbour Bridge and amazing Sky Tower along with the full sky line of downtown Auckland city.
