The Mt Eden walk is an easy 2k walk that will take you around 1 hour to complete. Just 5 km from down town Auckland it’s the highest volcano in Auckland on Mt Eden. The last eruption was about 15,000 years ago, leaving a crater 50Mt deep. Walk to the top of Mt Eden Volcano, there you’ll get a 360° view of Auckland so long as the rain stays away. If you can’t be bothered walking up to the summit, then take the Auckland City 3 Hour Tour which includes Mt Eden.
If you enjoyed the view from Mt Eden, then you’ll totally love the amazing views from the top of the Sky Tower. If you’re the adventurous type then try the SkyWalk from the Sky Tower, that’ll knock your socks off! For the totally mad do the SkyJump off the Sky Tower!

This walk up Mt Eden takes you along the road and smaller tracks to the summit and crater, check out the immense size of this volcano. It is possible to walk down into the crater, its just grass. Take a rest on one of the bench seats and look out across to Rangitoto Island. You’ll see the Auckland Harbour Bridge and amazing Sky Tower along with the full sky line of downtown Auckland city.
