Points of interest along the walk
Point 1: The start of the Earnscleugh River Dam Walk
From the car park take the track to your left. Just up the track is the yard for the dam crew then a gate which is locked. The sign said this is a goat farm so no shooting.
Point 2: At the top
Going up the track you will pass a water pipe which crosses under the road and a side road on your right. When you reach a pipe stack your uphill climb is no more. You will be able to look down to the back of Clyde and all the orchards.
Point 3: Earnscleugh River Dam
The flat section to the dam is uneventful. You can look down to the Earnscleugh River, on one of the corners it is a straight drop down to the river. You will see the remains of the old concrete water pipes running along side the new steel pipes. When you see the ideal lunch site by the river, the green grass and weeping willows, the dam is just around the corner.
