The Fyffe-Palmer walk first takes you through an area of revegetation plantings and then along the edge of the bush before it begins to climb.

By following the poles, it is a small ascent through farmland to the top of the hill. From here, you will have a great view over Kaikoura, the peninsula and the coast. This will be the most you get in terms of views on this walk as the rest of it is through regenerating forest. This area at the top of the hill also has a small picnic area.

The section of the track that’s in the forest is a loop track. The tall trees in this forest consist of matai, totara and rimu, which are native to New Zealand. You can see them standing tall from the valley and as you walk towards them from the grasslands.

In the forest, you will come across two small waterfalls. Their presence and strength may vary depending on the amount of recent rain.

Once you’ve had your fill of the stunning forest, make your way back down through the grassland and over the fence back to the car park.

Fly over the whales on this stunning scenic flight which includes Kaikoura and it’s coastline.
