This walk takes you along the shore of Lake Manapouri, which is often described as New Zealand’s most beautiful lake due to its scenery and deep blue waters.
The walk is full of options. The start and the end of the walk are interchangeable: start at whichever end you’d like, either Pearl Harbour, Manapouri, or at the Frasers Beach road entrance just north of Manapouri township.
You may even find that you don’t complete this walk so quickly because you stop to sunbathe or go for a swim. You can also choose between walking along the beach or using the track that runs parallel to the beach. There are also picnic tables along the way if you want to have lunch with a view.
Speaking of the view, you will be able to gaze at the mountains across the lake and, of course, Lake Manapouri itself. This walk is perfect for sunset as you watch the sky change colour and have it reflected in the water.
This walk is great for families, mostly for the reasons mentioned above. It is easy and has a lot of options for everyone to enjoy.
